Powder Creek SCTP Crushers Bring Home The Bacon From Cedar Hill
Fourteen members of Powder Creek's Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) Team, the "Powder Creek Crushers," smashed targets in an ATA Registered Trap Shoot at the Cedar Hill Gun Club near Baldwin, Kansas, on May 4. The Crushers fielded three squads of Junior and Senior shooters who shot the second event consisting of 100 16-yard singles targets.
The first senior squad posted an impressive score of 376 out of 400 targets, with a high individual score of 97. The second squad recorded a team score of 384, with 83 being the high individual score for the afternoon. The third squad, all junior shooters, tallied a score of 318, an excellent score for their first registered shoot. The high individual score for these shooters was 81.
Said Walt Stephen, "The coaching staff was elated with the performance and tenacity of each and every one of our shooters. Those were some of the toughest shooting conditions I've seen with strong, gusty winds, occasional showers, and totally unpredictable targets. All those kids deserve a pat on the back for an outstanding performance. Seeing so many parents attending the event really made it special for the shooters and coaching staff, too. This is more fun than little league."
Despite high winds and occasional rain showers, the Crushers posted impressive scores for their first outing of the season. These shooters took home prizes in several categories, including sub-Junior, Junior, C-Class, D-Class and high Lady shooter. These shooters are to be congratulated on their excellent performance. Now it's on to the Kansas State Shoot and watch out KTA! Keep up the good work!
